The OSUMB Drumline and Color Guard sections hold auditions for membership. In-person auditions will be held on Sat, May 30 at OSU. If you live within a reasonable drive of Corvallis, we expect that you audition in person.
If you live further away, or if you have an unavoidable conflict with the audition date, we also happily accept video submissions for membership consideration. All audition videos will be considered if submitted before the OSUMB Sign-up Deadline of June 15.
Students auditioning in person should fill out the OSUMB Signup form prior to auditions. In this scenario, no video audition link is required with your Signup form.
Following auditions and the June 15 Signup deadline, we will announce the drumline and color guard results on July 4, along with the full OSUMB roster.

Video Instructions
If you are submitting a video, you will be asked for a link to your video when filling out the signup form. This can be on a video hosting platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, or it can be in a storage service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Box, as long the permissions/viewing accessibility are correct and the link stays live through the summer.
Additional Drumline Audition Information
Audition Packet: THE DRUMLINE AUDITION PACKET IS HERE! (top of this page)
Players may audition on any instrument in the battery. If you want to improve your odds of placement somewhere in the drumline, we advise that you audition on two instruments.
Drumline video specifics
Videos should be taken from a perspective where the viewer can see your hands and feet. You are welcome to submit a video on your instrument or a practice pad, but if you have easy access to an instrument that is preferred. Basses may play match-grip on a snare pad, or use a bass pad if available. Cymbal players can use their hands and upper-body positioning to simulate their instrument; you’d be surprised at how well that works out.
Additional Color Guard Audition Information

Color Guard video suggestions
Videos should be taken from a perspective where the viewer can see your entire form and your equipment. Please record a brief example of techniques (spins, tosses, choreography) and equipment choices (flag, rifle, sabre) that you can perform with confidence.
